Privacy Policy
Draft, to be reviewed before Liars Dice is in the App Store.
Who runs Liars Dice
Liars Dice is run by Bruce Ogden, an individual in Thailand ("we" in this policy). He decides how your personal information is used: he is the "data controller" under Thailand’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA).
For anything about your information, write to support@liarsdiceapp.com.
Without an account
You can look at the app and read How to play without an account. Nothing about you is sent to us then, apart from what any app or website sends (such as your internet address) when it connects.
What we keep when you have an account
If you sign up with your email: your email address and your password. The password is kept only in a scrambled form that cannot be turned back into it.
If you sign in with Apple or Google: an identifier from Apple or Google, and the email address they share with us (with Apple you can choose to hide your real address).
Your username, your character, and when you agreed to these terms and this policy.
Your matches: who played, the bids and calls, who won, and the scores. Your groups: which groups you are in, your rights in them, and invites and requests to join.
Your friends and friend requests, the players you have blocked, and any reports you make about a player (who, why, and the match if it was at a table).
If you turn on notifications: a code from Apple that lets us send notifications to your phone, and the notifications we sent you (kept for 7 days).
If you buy spare dice: which packs you bought and when, the App Store’s number for each purchase, how many spare dice you hold, and each one you used. Apple takes the payment: we never see your card or other payment details.
A character from your selfie
Only if you choose it: your selfie is sent once to Anthropic’s AI, Claude, which describes your face in words from fixed lists (such as hair, beard, build, glasses and the face’s proportions on a scale of 1 to 9) and gives your skin, hair and eye colours. We keep only the character made from that description, never the photo.
Before your first selfie the app asks you to agree, and we keep a record of each request and your agreement (at most 5 a day). Anthropic handles the photo under its commercial terms, which do not let it use the photo to train its AI.
What other players see
Your username and character, everything you do at the table in matches you play, and your results in the stats of groups you are in. Your friends also see your rating on their list of friends. Never your email address.
Nobody is told that you blocked or reported them.
Why we use it
To run your account, your matches, your friends and your groups; to look into reports of players; to send the notifications you turned on (invites, your turn, a match starting, groups, friend requests); to make your character if you ask; to give you the spare dice you buy; and to answer you when you write. We do this to give you the service you asked for when you made an account.
Your email address is used only to sign you in, to send you the codes for signing up and for a new password, and to answer you.
There are no adverts. We do not sell your information, share it for marketing, or follow you on other apps or websites.
Who handles it for us
Supabase keeps the accounts and the database, on servers in Singapore.
Anthropic (USA) describes your selfie, if you make a character from one.
Expo (USA) and Apple pass notifications to your phone.
Apple takes payment for spare dice, and RevenueCat (USA) tells us about your App Store purchases, so the right player gets the dice. RevenueCat knows your purchases by your Liars Dice account number, not your name.
Google (Gmail) sends the emails with your codes and holds the emails you send to support@liarsdiceapp.com.
Apple or Google confirm who you are if you sign in with them.
Cloudflare runs the website liarsdiceapp.com and passes on emails sent to it. Like any website, it sees your internet address.
Some of these are outside Thailand. Each handles your information only to provide its service to us, under its own data protection terms.
How long we keep it
For as long as you have an account.
When you delete your account, your email address, username, character, groups, friends, blocks, invites and notifications are removed at once, and any unused spare dice with them. Matches you played stay in the other players’ results, without your name or character. Records of spare dice bought are kept for our accounts, without your name. Reports about a player are kept so we can look into them, without the link to your account. The database’s backup copies are replaced within 7 days.
Your rights
Under the PDPA you can ask to see your information and have a copy of it, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or limit how it is used, and to withdraw your agreement. Write to support@liarsdiceapp.com; we answer within 30 days.
You can delete your account yourself at any time: on the home screen tap Account, then Delete my account.
If you are not satisfied with our answer, you can complain to Thailand’s Personal Data Protection Committee (PDPC).
Age
Accounts are for people aged 13 or older.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in an important way, the app asks you to read it and agree again.
